XY21 (shortened) - 2020
This solo piece has its roots in my ongoing contemplation of the meaning and formation of modern day masculinity. Which parts are healthy and which ones could we do without? Looking at the inherited and borrowed values, I propose that we need to look within ourselves and apply daily conscious effort to shed the toxic behavior patterns that don't serve us any more and re-examine the meanings of "strength," "toughness," and "leadership."
Passage - 2019
Based in capoeira movement as an expression form on the concert dance stage, the work embodies a passing of knowledge from one generation to the next. What started as a course exercise in composition grew into a physical conversation with my capoeira lineage. The solo choreography has been performed at the A.I.R. Dance conference in Miami, FL (2019) and as part of COCO Dance Festival in Trinidad and Tobago (2019).
Tarnsformation of One (sample) - 2014
A solo piece performed in Dance Attic (London). The movement was developed utilizing capoeira movement combinations as the basis and interpreting them in contemporary dance technique.
Card Soliders - 2015
A male duet made for a corporate Christmas event with the Alice in Wonderland theme. The choreography was made through cooperation with my dance partner from the Catalyst Dance Group.
